Long Island Area is Producing Some High-End Talent

The Long Island region is producing some high end talent. Here’s a look at some of the best players to come out of the area recently.

Position – Name – Size – Hometown – 12′-13′ Team – 13′-14′ Team – NCAA commit – OHL Status

F – Jeremy Bracco – 97′ – 5’9-154 – Freeport, NY – NJ Rockets (Atlantic Jr. A) – USNTDP – Boston College commit – OHL rights – Kitchener (rd 5-184th)

D – Charles McAvoy – 97′ – 5’11-190 – NJ Rockets (Metro) – USNTDP – Boston University commit – OHL rights – Kitchener (rd 6-113th)

F – Troy Conzo – 97′ – 5’9-170 ¬†Nesconset, NJ – – NJ Rockets (Metro) / ¬†(Atlantic) – U-Mass-Amherst commit –

F – Nolan Aibel – 97′ – Brookville, NY – 5’10-150 – NJ Rockets (Atlantic) / (EHL) – Tri-City (USHL) – Yale commit –

F – Grant Josefek – 97′ – 5’9-165 – Chester, NJ – North Jersey Avs- NJ Hitmen U-18 – Northeastern commit – USHL Rights (rd 1 -7th) Muskegon – OHL Rights – Plymouth –

D – Steven Ruggiero – 97′ – 6’3-174 – Kings Park, NY – Metro Moose (Metro) – Youngstown (USHL) – Penn State commit – USHL (rd 1 -9th) Youngstown – OHL Rights – Ottawa –

D – Adam Fox – 98′ – 5’9-152 – Jericho, NY – Long Island Bantam AAA – Long Island Midget AAA – Harvard commit – USNTDP U-17 commit – OHL Rights – Plymouth –

That’s 7 players, 7 D-1 commits, 5 OHL draftees and 3 USNTDP commits. I don’t think any of them want to play in the OHL. They’ll each play NCAA D-1. If 1 goes to the OHL it’ll probably be Fox because he’s younger and players tend to ditch Harvard these days. Josefek’s HS season was amazing, statistically speaking, not sure of the level of competition in New Jersey HS hockey, but for a frosh to have the numbers he put up (25-52-53-105) setting state records, amazing.
