Prep School Hockey : 2014 Season Capsule

Prep School Hockey Rankings and Recruiting

The 2014 season concluded with Salisbury skating off with another New England Prep title lead by the dynamic Smith twins (YALE) and linemate Derek Barach (MERCYHURST). Salisbury beat a very strong Gunnery team 3-2 in the title game.

The undisputed top player in New England Prep this season was Dexter’s Ryan Donato (HARVARD) who registered 37 goals and 41 assists for 78 points in just 30 games played. New Jersey Devils 4th rounder Miles Wood a 95′ was a force for Nobles. Some new stars shone through like Ace Cowans (Groton – uncommitted), AJ Greer (Kimball Union – BOSTON UNIVERSITY), David Cotton (Cushing – BOSTON UNIVERSITY), and Lucas Michaud (Berwick – MAINE). Don’t forget about the 00′ Oliver Wahlstrom (North Yarmouth – MAINE) who will be moving West to play for Shattuck Saint Mary’s this year.

Despite a dwindling number of players moving straight to the D1 ranks, New England Prep remains a strong source of hockey talent, with plenty of players moving on to USHL teams, the USNTDP and the CHL ranks every season.
