RPI Hockey : Incoming Recruits Class of 19′

RPI Hockey

(G) Alec Dillon – 6’5-175 – Tri-City (USHL) 96′ – The biggest star of this class, Dillon is a legit NHL prospect because of his combination of size and skill. A 5th round selection by the Kings in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Dillon gained attention from NHL scouts with a big season with the Victoria Grizzlies. He spent this year Tri-City in the USHL where in 41 games he had a .914 save % and lead the league with a 2.27 G.AA.

(D) Tom Grant – 6’3-210 – Bay State (USPHL) 94′ – A big defender who spent 14′-15′ in the USPHL as an over-age player. Grant probably won’t be expected to contribute much offensively. Played two seasons for Taft prior to joining Bay State.

(F) Jesper Ohrwall – 5’9-170 – Fairbanks (NAHL) 94′ – Ohrwall has played high level hockey for years in his native country of Sweden. He came to North America to play for Fairbanks in the NAHL and had 24 goals in 26 games played. Ohrwall continues a trend of late siging

(F) Evan Tironese – 5’9-170 – Alberni Valley (BCHL) 95′ – Tironese was a big time player in the BCHL for Alberni Valley. Green Bay picked him 10th overall in the USHL Draft, he spent one season there prior to returning to the Bulldogs for 14′-15′. Smart player will probably be a solid depth guy with the the Engineers.

(D) Charles Manley – 5’8-160 – Estevan (SJHL) 96′ – Signed four and a half years ago by RPI’s staff when he was 15. At the time, the Orchard Park, NY native was playing for the Selects Academy in CT. Since then he’s had stops in Waterloo (USHL), Austin (NAHL) and played 14′-15′ with the Estevan Bruins in the SJHL (48-4-9-13).

(D) Meirs Moore – 5’9-175 – Victoria (BCHL) 94′ – Moore was a standout for high-powered Duluth-East prior to spending two seasons in the USHL with Sioux City and Fargo. When he “aged out” out that league he went to Victoria in the BCHL and lead the league in assists by a defenseman in 14′-15. (58-7-40-47).

(F) Lonnie Clary – 5’11-175 – Fairbanks (NAHL) 94′ – Another 20 year old incoming defender, Clary is from Riverside, CA. Clary has spent three seasons with Fairbanks in the NAHL. He was a big contributor on the 13′-14 team that won the NAHL championship.

(F) Alex Rodriguez – 5’11-180 – Sioux City (USHL) 95′ – Another native of Miami, FL for the Engineers, Rodriguez played for Minnesota hockey factory Shattuck St. Mary’s for five years. He spent 14′-15 with Sioux City in the USHL.

(F) Brady Wiffen – 6’2-190 – Trenton (OJHL) 94′ – The biggest offensive threat in this group, Wiffen had 53 goals in 52 games in the OJHL as an over-ager (20 years old). Wiffen also has good size at 6’2-190. A native of St. Mary’s, ONT, Wiffen spent two seasons with his local Jr. B team prior to three with the Trenton Golden Hawks.

(F) Carlos Fornaris – 5’10-165 – Topeka (NAHL) 95′ – Fornaris is from the new hockey hotbed of Miami, FL. He played prep hockey for Northfield Mount Hermon for a few seasons prior to a year with Cedar Rapids in the USHL. Was with Topeka in the NAHL for 14′-15′. On the smaller side, but plays tough.
